Four Months

Posted in feelings on 26 July 2007 by R.Pad

It’s been four months since I’ve seen my girlfriend. Talking twice or thrice a day is lovely, but it’s a poor substitute for time together. Luckily, some idiot has made it possible for me to go see her soon. Ha! Life is funny that way.

HP7 Box Art

Amazon totally came through! Book 7 of the-series-that-must-not-be-named (geez, what a traffic spike just from mentioning it in my previous post) arrived on Saturday. The box is completely adorable. I love it! Here are some shots.

Temptation

Posted in media rants on 20 July 2007 by R.Pad

I’m so, So, SO tempted to read the Harry Potter 7 spoilers on Salon. I pre-ordered the book from Amazon and it’s supposed to arrive on launch day. That said, I’m pretty sure they narfed it and I won’t be getting Saturday delivery. In other nerd-book news, there’s a new R.A. Salvatore book coming out on my birthday (the one that’s being ruined by Halo).

My body feels weird today. I’ve been eating the food I got from Amazon. I usually do an okay job of mixing fresh food into my meals. Today I’ve ingested too many preservatives.

I might be testing out this new device for free. I use too many Voip products. I wish one of them did everything I wanted.

Go Starbury!!!

Posted in sports stuff on 19 July 2007 by R.Pad

Outside of the Pistons’ championship runs, I haven’t really enjoyed basketball since the ’90s. I just can’t stand today’s players (though Durant and Oden might change this for me). I was shocked to discover Stephon Marbury’s line of shoes. He thinks it’s ridiculous for kids — especially poor ones that look up to basketball players — to spend over $100 on shoes (that are made in sweat shops all over Asia for giant corporations). He has a line of shoes and clothing that won’t break the bank. Every item is $14.98 or less. I always thought he was kind of a dick, but I’ve gained a ton of respect for him. Some of his shoes are pretty cool too! I shall have to support his venture.

New E3 Binary Blog!!!

Posted in work stuff on 19 July 2007 by R.Pad

After missing my first E3 ever last year (the only one I’ve ever missed, mind you), I returned to the all-new, all-different E3. It was a good show. I caught up with lots of people, I had a lot of fun working, and I made a small bit of change. It’s time for a binary list!

good: I really enjoyed working with the Comcast crew. The bossman is an old friend from my Happy Puppy days. The shooters/editors were young people that were really fun to work with. Since I have more production experience than the other “talent” guy, I was given the less experienced shooter. It was fun setting up shots with him and sneaking in jokes during the interview to try to make him laugh.

bad: The setup of the new E3 was mostly good, but the hotels were too far apart and the Barker Hangar was pretty useless. I heard the shuttles were okay, but since we were schlepping around heavy gear, we weren’t able to make use of them.

Rebirth of Slick

Posted in feelings on 17 July 2007 by R.Pad

I love that Digable Planets album.

I still need to write about the “new” E3. It was fun and easy for me, with lots of interesting little stories.

I still need to write about The Order of the Phoenix. It was fun.

For now, I’ll write about my latest slick dealing….

Whiners

So I’m off to E3 tomorrow. This is the first “new” E3, which is much smaller than previous ones. Last year was the only one I missed and this will be my first one without BB since…2001?

Anyway, a lot of journalists are whining and complaining about the show. This is just frickin’ retarded. Yes, the work can be hard, but there are so many gamers out there that would kill to attend the show. Even though I’ve been to all the shows except for 2006, I still appreciate being able to attend. Especially this year, as it’s invite only.

Score One for the National Guard?

Posted in techMology on 7 July 2007 by R.Pad

Some adults are just stupid. As much as I enjoy Pokemon and use it to help pay the rent, I’ve never thought about changing my name to Ash Ketchum or Brock…uh…does Brock have a last name?
