Been a Month

Posted in feelings, work stuff on 26 April 2007 by R.Pad

So I’m at Farley’s, having a morning coffee. It’s quite lovely today–another perfectly Potrero day. The week, however, has been a bit wacky. Emotionally, I’ve been all over the place. Perhaps it’s that time of the month for me.

- It has been a month since I left my Mahal. It’s hard. We talk twice a day most of the time, but it’s a poor substitute for being with her. There are thousands of little things I miss about her and I wish so badly that we could just be together. It’s frustrating that her visa situation is what it is. It’ll take a lot of time and a lot of money for us to be together on a long-term basis. However, that’s what I signed up for and I’m going to try real hard to make it happen.

- I had an impromptu interview on Tuesday. The job is pretty cool and I’d be a brilliant fit for what they’re looking for–producing video, blogging on WordPress, and co-producing with a company that I have several friends at. The only hitch is that I’d have to move back to New York. A year ago this would have been a major downer, but my priorities are different now. I’m more than willing to move back to the extremes of NYC if it enables me to start a family.

I’m Covered in Bees!!!

Posted in media rants, techMology on 16 April 2007 by R.Pad

Sweet. I got to use an Eddie Izzard line as a title. I have two neat links and an excellent video for you to check out. The first two are techmology articles, while the second is a Pokemon video with naughty language. The vid might be the funniest thing I’ve seen all year. Thanks Glenda!!!

So it’s possible the mobile phone usage is killing the world’s bee population. This, in turn, will possibly lead to pollination problems, which in turn will lead to the end of the world!!! Read all about it here.

The makers of my favorite toilet seats have managed to turn one of its older models into a fire hazard. Yes, a toilet-seat fire-hazard.

Crazy Week

Posted in feelings, work stuff on 15 April 2007 by R.Pad

Wow. So, in the last week I’ve:

- Started two new blogs. Both are for fun, but hopefully they can grow into something profitable. This is the wrestling one Justin and I are working on. This is the one for my hotel-owner friend in Thailand. Check ‘em out and click on those ads!!!

- Had a few people interested about talking jobs with me. This is exciting since I really need a job. However, Glenda is putting a hitch in my plans.

I Want You!!!

Posted in sports stuff, work stuff on 11 April 2007 by R.Pad

Yes, I would like you to check out this site Justin and I are working on. While you’re there, please keep clicking on the ads (control + click on all of them!), use the Google search box in the bottom-right corner, and vote in the poll. It would really help me out. This could be a really fun project that could really be fun for me. On a scary note, building the site and thinking about SEO has activated my inner Epstein.

This clip cracks me up every time. I love the end, when he throws the football to himself. Congrats on your hall of fame induction Mr. Perfect. Rest in peace.

Trifecta

Posted in feelings on 5 April 2007 by R.Pad

Wow. I’ve finally been able to stay home for four days in a row–first time in almost six weeks. Now that I’m starting to settle down (kind of…still haven’t unpacked completely and have tons of laundry to do), I’ve had a chance for reality to slap me in the face. It’s really scary for me right now. Three things in particular are bothering me.

Work: Duh. Having two contracts dry up when you get home isn’t the nicest way to return to your country. I’ve have a few freelance assignments, but nothing that pays too well. I’ve been applying for jobs every day; some of them are okay and some of them just suck–I just need money. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard much about any openings in the field I actually want to be in. I’ve asked some people, but not as many as I should have. It’s just hard to keep a positive outlook on things and I don’t want to keep hearing, “Sorry, there’s nothing out there.” Maybe tomorrow or Monday I’ll have more resolve.

WrestleMania 23 Binary Blog!

Posted in feelings, sports stuff, travel on 2 April 2007 by R.Pad

Once again, I was lucky enough to get to go to WrestleMania. It was a fun trip, but there were a few downers as well. I shall break it down for you.

Good: The people from the publisher were excellent hosts. It was nice to hang out with them.

Bad: Detroit is such a crap town. It relied way to heavily on the auto industry and is now suffering for not being more diverse. We accidentally drove through 8 Mile and it was just depressing. The airport is also crap and the staff at Ford Field was pretty pathetic. On the way to the airport, the driver said that he hopes I come back to his fair city. I don’t really see that happening. It’s a shame, because there’s a lot of history there, but it’s such a pathetic place now.

Bad: I met the single most annoying person I’ve encountered in the last five years. Everyone pretty much hated him. Sadly, I’ll probably be seeing him at future junkets.
