It’s Like Achievement Points for Video

Posted in work stuff on 23 February 2007 by R.Pad

So my first episode of Bee TV has snagged more YouTube views than the previous four episodes combined. That sounds cool, hey? Keep in mind that the video is only okay and the previous episodes barely drew flies. Since this is the first YouTube video I’ve been tracking obsessively, the stat tracking has been a lovely surprise for me. I didn’t know the site had these cool features! Here’s what I nabbed in the last 24 hours:

#56 – Most Viewed (Today) – Gadgets & Games – All
#16 – Most Viewed (Today) – Gadgets & Games – English
#93 – Top Rated (Today) – Gadgets & Games – All
#13 – Most Linked (Today) – Gadgets & Games – All

Watch This So I Can Keep My Contract!!!

Please, please, please watch this and give it five stars if you have a Google account. It’s not that good–didn’t have a real cameraman or a real camera and it made me all bratty. The next two should be better…definitely weirder and more fun. I really enjoyed working with editor on this–really missed that type of work.

Heeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! (again)

I found this awesome video with Claudio Castagnoli and Jimmy Yang. They’re two of my favorites. I love Claudio’s gimmick and moves (especially his European uppercut). Check it out!

Brotherly Update

Posted in feelings on 20 February 2007 by R.Pad

My brother had an MRI today (the world’s most boring procedure). There’s a pretty good chance that my brother won’t have to have surgery. The doctors are going to fit him with a back brace, let him heal a bit, and try physical therapy first. The brace and therapy should make his back stronger than before and help correct his crappy posture. He’s much more positive today–lots of friends are visiting him, he’s doped up on vicodin, and my Mom’s arriving on Tuesday afternoon to help him out. It’ll be tough on him, since he probably can’t surf for six months, but he’s lucky that it wasn’t much worse. He’s being mindful of that and trying to stay positive.

Crazy Sundaze

So I had a bunch of people over for a small Ray-B-Q. It was pretty fun, but my mind was only half there. Noot’s been praying with the monks the last few days, so we’ve only been speaking a 10 to 15 minutes a day. I’ve missed her tons. Randomly, my brother called in tears. He fractured a few vertebrae skydiving. He should be somewhat okay; he has feeling in all his limbs and the doctors said that there isn’t any damage to his spinal cord. He was terrified of telling my parents, so after I talked to him for a bit, I called them and calmed them down before they called him. Right after that Noot called. So all kinds of emotions hit me in the span of 30 minutes. It was more than a little disconcerting. My Mom’s flying out to Hawaii on Tuesday to be with my brother. Hopefully his surgery goes well. Oops, there go my thoughts flying into fifteen different directions again.

My Dreamier Machine

This VentureOne vehicle is awesome. I totally want the full-electric model. Not only is it much better for the environment, but it also looks like a lightcycle from Tron. It even has a Knight Rider-ish stearing wheel! It’s interesting that it’s classified as a motorcycle. Does that mean that you have to wear a helmet when you drive it, even though it’s an enclosed vehicle? Anyway, this would totally make me want to get a drivers license. It’s just frickin’ awesome.

Elite Xtremists

Showtime’s Elite Xtreme Combat was pretty interesting. The production values were very good for a first effort; in many ways they were better than what Showtime has in its boxing shows. Most of the fights were good, though the main event ending in a DQ really hurt the promotion. The one thing that bugged me was the commentary. Mauro Ranallo was surprisingly bad. He’s been commentating for Pride for years, but he made some rookie mistakes. It was laughable when Frank Shamrock was being deducted a point and Ranallo wondered why the referee was raising his hand as if he were the victor. Moron.

Getting involved with EXC was a pretty smart move on Gary Shaw’s part. Even though they are very different sports, the promoters behind boxing and MMA have a pretty fierce rivalry. Shaw is the first major boxing promoter to get involved with a big MMA show. He’ll make EXC competitive with UFC in a few years if he keeps this up. It’ll be good for the sport. Hopefully boxing can learn something from this. Otherwise MMA will continue to rise in popularity while boxing continues to slide.

So I made out with someone that’s now dead. It feels kind of weird. Bye bye Anna Nicole.
